Daniel Caesar’s sold out tour, Freudian, came to Calgary’s Palace Theatre November 15 for a night to remember. The show began with soulful singer Snoh Aalegra who opened the night with a romantic, sultry vibe. The Stockholm native who’s best known for her sample on Drake’s latest album for the track, “Do Not Disturb” won over the crowd by singing her break out hits including “Sometimes”, “Home” and “Time”. Although her album, “Feels” came out recently, there were definitely fans in the Palace Theatre who knew exactly who she was.

After Snoh’s last song, the crowd was teased with the beat to Danny’s single, “Best Part” where they sang every word. The stage was then transformed to a little white platform set up with a microphone stand and accompanied by a full band. Various bright lights also illuminated the stage so that Daniel Caesar was visible from all levels of the venue. The 22-year-old then came out on stage to mesmerize his fans. The entire night continued with Caesar serenading his audience from start to finish with his r&b indie soul ambiance. He concluded the night with fan favourite, “Get You” featuring Kali Uchis, where he encouraged the crowd to sing along with him and continued to loop his infamous chorus until the entire audience was in unison. With the crowd screaming, chanting and even crying, it’s easy to say Daniel Caesar put on one hell of a show.
